So much is happening in the news, current events and around the world until lately I have experienced an overload of knee-jerk impulses to voice my opinions. We are living in a time when everyone has an opinion, everyone has a platform to speak and everyone has a voice and outlet to say or do whatever he or she wants. That can be a wonderful reality in some ways and that can be a disturbing one in others.
As a result, I have noticed as people are showing their true colors (feelings, motives, hidden agendas and personal ideologies, etc.), there seems to be a fresh wave of hatred, fear, judgment, rage, revenge, jealousy, disregard, and selfishness blowing. It is very disturbing to me that it is coming from all areas and walks of life.
By nature I am passionate about words and sharing them with others. However I have never been a bandwagon jumper or a yeller in a crowded theater. Using ones voice and actions to make a statement is extremely important. Especially when it comes to standing up for what you believe in. However, I have learned over the years to let wisdom lead the way, spend more time praying than talking and wait for discernment and the right time to use my voice and actions to do so.
Note: We will never agree with everyone. Everyone will not agree with us. We will not all see through the same lenses. We will not win everyone to our side of the table.
May we learn to see others the way God sees us
My we learn to forgive quickly
May we extend mercy to others
May we extend to others the patience we need from God
May we disagree without spewing venom
May we passionately take a stand while respecting those who are not
May we see each other as works in progress
May we do our part to do our part
May we address our own issues with the same passion that we point out the issues of others
May we throw away our man-made soapboxes, stand toe to toe, look at each other face to face as equals, then start a conversation.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
